Imperfect copy. Of the 8 copper plates called for, 2 are missing (Vol. 1 frontispiece of Cook and in Vol. 2 one engraved plate. As well lacking is the first 4 pages in Vol. 1 from ii to vi.
The "Death of Captain James Cook" found here in Vol. 2 is one of the iconic images of the 18th century was immortalized after his death at the hands of Hawaiian natives at Kealakekua Bay.
