A collection of 4 books dating from 1961 to 2019, specifically, Atwood’s First book Double Persephone, The Handmaid’s Tale with affixed signature on paper and The Testaments signed (autopen?).
• Double Persephone. Toronto: Hawkshead Press, Toronto, 1961. First edition. [16] pp. in white illustrated card covers, wire-stitched. A very good copy, but two leaves are cream-coloured facsimiles. The author’s first book, a collection of seven poems published when she was only 19 years old, designed by Atwood and handset by her on a flat bed press in an edition of
220 copies. Issued by John Robert Colombo's Hawkshead Press as Book One, Market Book Series. One of the great rarities of contemporary Can Lit.
• The Handmaid’s Tale. Toronto: McClelland and Stewart, 1985. First Canadian edition of this classic dystopian novel. With Atwood’s signature on a piece of paper glued to the title page. Cream paper boards, quarter bound in purplish red paper boards. Slight tear on the bottom of the spine panel of the dust jacket; title leaf has a small ripple where the piece of paper has been glued. Otherwise in very good condition.
• The Testaments. Toronto: McClelland & Stewart, 2019. First Canadian edition of the Booker Prize winning sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale. Atwood’s signature (perhaps done by an auto pen) on the front fly leaf. Dark blue paper boards in dust jacket, fine condition.
• Good Bones. Toronto: Coach House Press, 1992. First Canadian edition. Atwood’s signature on a label on the front fly leaf. Orange paper boards in dust jacket, fine condition.
All four books are placed inside a black tote bag (with two The Testaments promotional bookmarks) advertising the publication of The Testaments.
