Roddy Doyle (b1958) was an Irish novelist, dramatist and screenwriter. He won in 1993 The Booker Prize, the leading literary award in the English speaking world for his book Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha.
• The Commitments. Dublin: King Farouk, 1987. (4), 144pp. His first book. Card signed by Doyle on front free endpaper. First edition, Soft cover with perfect binding. Stiff pictorial paper covers show rubbing, soiling and light creasing. Slight damage to bottom of spine. Slight separation at several hinges. Rear pages have creases to top corner. Doyle co-founded King Farouk Publishing with John Sutton for the principal purpose of publishing this book. 3,000 copies were printed of which only about 800 were sold.
