First edition. 281pp. Original Maroon cloth book, with gilt lettering on spine, with a small vertical stain on the right side of the front end paper, otherwise in near fine condition.

Inscribed by Atwood in blue ink on the title page "For Mary Lou - Best Wishes, from this decorative cake - Margaret Atwood 1971". with slight wear to book and small chips on top borders dust jacket not price clipped, and small mark on back cover, designed by Charles Pachter and mylar protected. DJ in very good condition otherwise. A nice copy.

Atwood is the two time Governor General's Award winner. Atwood's brilliant first novel, The Edible Woman, was released in Canada in 1969 and won in 2020 and 2021 Richard C. Holbrooke Distinguished Achievement Award.

Storyline. The Edible Woman uses elements of the surreal as it follows a young woman named Marian whose engagement sets off an increasingly bizarre series of events, which include the loss of her ability to eat.
