National Book Collecting 3rd Contest 2012 Poster. 11 x 17 inches paper with plastic edges sealed to protect poster but plastic does not appear to be affixed to poster. 4 colours one side, black, yellow, red and orange. Fine condition. Quite rare ephemeral poster to market.
The Third National Book-Collecting Contest will be launched on Monday 30 May 2011 during the Bibliographical Society of Canada’s AGM at the University of New Brunswick.
ABE Books, one of the largest databanks of used books on the planet, has joined us as the main sponsor for the 2011-12 contest. The National Post and CBC Books have also joined us as media sponsors and Hemlock Printers will be printing our posters.
Prizes were awarded to the winning entrants of the third National Book Collecting Contest in Vancouver and Waterloo on May 28, 2012.
• The first prize went to Samuel Jang, of Victoria, B.C. for his collection Aesop’s Fables
• The second prize winner was David Fernández, of Toronto, Ontario for his collection The Imaginary of Books: Homosexualities, Images, and Texts.
• The third prize winner was Gideon Foley, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan for his collection Tasteful Books.
The National Book Collecting Contest was created by the Bibliographical Society of Canada (BSC) in to encourage young Canadians to collect books and study the discipline of researching and writing bibliographies. The contest was open to all Canadian residents under thirty years of age as of the deadline date for submissions. The first contest was in 2010, second in 2011 and the third and apparently last in 2012.
