• The Trail of '98: A Northland Romance. New York: Dodd Mead, 1911. First U.S. ed. vii, [5], 514 pp. 4 b&w plates illustrated by Maynard Dixon. A very nice copy, greyish blue cloth in dustjacket (price on spine panel, $1.30); former owner’s name inscribed on front free endpaper. Mitham A3a.
• The Trail of '98: A Northland Romance. Toronto: William Briggs, 1911. Canadian issue, integral title leaf with "Songs of a Sourdough” substituted for "The Spell of the Yukon". Greyish blue cloth in slightly nicked dustjacket (price on spine panel, $1.25), text block bowed but very good otherwise; former owner’s name inscribed on front free endpaper. Mitham A3a.1.
• La piste de 98. Paris: Éditions Cosmpolites, 1929. Trans. Miriam Dou-Desportes. Collection du lecteur no. 17. Brown paper boards, half bound in marbled paper boards, very slight tear at the top of the spine. The last leaf advertises a film with the same title by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer

• for Clarence Brown’s 1928 epic silent film based on Service’s book, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer- Pictures, featuring Ralph Forbes, Karl Dane, and Dolores del Río.
4 Letters:
• ALS from George Sampson (an editor with George Bell & Sons), 6 February 1907, advising Service not to publish his book, presumably Songs of a Sourdough, in a miniature format. Service ignored Sampson’s advice. Several books of poetry by Service appeared in miniature.
• 2 ALS to Service from John Irving (an editor in London, England), 9 June Saturday [1907, 1917?] and Sunday, thanking Service “for the pulls of the illustrations… The captions are excellent… [William Wilfred?] Campbell using his own copy of the M.S.S.”
• Incomplete ALS (4 pp.) to Service from an editor, 15 April 1910, re Gilliat’s book, Macpherson’s utterances, has written to [C.E.] Brock and returned his sketches, “I think I can improve the opening of Mr. Cody’s MS. by making chapter 3 stand first. It is an account of the Canadian North West….” H.A. Cody, the Canadian clergyman and novelist, was a rector at Whitehorse. Service, then a clerk in the Canadian Bank of Commerce, was his vestry clerk.
