Contemporary binding, threadbare caps, corners bumped, a few scrapings on the lower board. Inscribed on the front fly leaf: “A l‘usage de la m[ère] Catherine de Ste Angèle, hospitalière de Vierzon, décédée le 29 Août 1707 et depuis à s[oeur] Anne Delage ditte de St François.” There are also ms. notes at the end; and a signature from another nun in 1869 on the verso of the upper board. only 3 copies are located in WorldCat. Paul le Jeune was a French Jesuit missionary in New France. He served as the Superior of the Jesuits in Canada from 1632 to 1639. During his tenure, he began a mission at Trois-Rivières, founded the community at Sillery, and saw the establishment of the Hôtel-Dieu de Québec. He was the first editor of the Relations des Jésuites de la Nouvelle-France (1634). In addition to the Jesuit Relations, he wrote several works of spiritual reflection toward the end of his life.
