Flat: 8-7/8 x 7 inches was folded holograph 1903 letter and 4-7/8 x 3-7/8 inches envelope written by Peter Adolphus McIntyre on Government House Prince Edward Island stationary to someone in Washington DC thanking him for a fine Edmund Fanning signature. McIntyre collects Fanning signatures and has a number but is very please with this new one as communicated with the letter. Very good condition.

Peter Adolphus McIntyre [1840-1910] was a Canadian politician, public servant, physician and coroner. McIntyre was educated at the Quebec Seminary, Laval University and McGill University where he earned his medical degree in 1867. He was appointed the twentieth Lieutenant Governor for the Province of Prince Edward Island on 23rd May 1899. He served in office until 1904 and died six years later in Souris, P.E.I
Edmund Fanning [1739-1818] was an army officer, colonial administrator, and land agent. General Edmund Fanning was the second Governor of the Island St. John, then later called Prince Edward Island since the creation of the Colony in 1763.
