Kathleen Norris was an American novelist, poet and newspaper columnist. She was one of the most widely read and highest paid female writers in the United States.

Part one of projected trilogy, The Epic of the Wheat. Paper covers, darkened spines, very good otherwise. Listings of other Tachnitz books on the back covers indicate that these 2 vols. were issued in August and September 1904. Former owner’s signature on the front cover of vol. 1 with Norris’s signature pasted at the bottom of the half title of vol. 1. Frank Norris was the older brother of Norris’s husband, Charles Gilman Norris.
