First edition. Mixed complete set of "Views of the Great Falls of Niagara" with five lithographed engravings in total, each drawn from nature by W. Vivian, on stone by T. M. Baynes and printed on chine. Four B&W engravings and one coloured engraving.

All four B&W prints have been washed and cleaned with some very minor border wrinkles and American Fall with now light brown spot in top border. All B&W engraving on the chine are in fine condition. The odd engraving in this set is the British or Horse Shoe Fall, coloured one which has not been washed and cleaned. This engraving paper is age toned with some wrinkling on outside border and one small open tear and brown spot on the chine left border paper. The image is near fine with one light brown spot in the top centre of the water fall.
A very nice, complete mixed set of a very scarce to rare early Niagara Falls engravings. Only about 10 sets of this first UK edition are located in North American Institutions including only one in Canada.
These prints are described as only the second portfolio published of views of Niagara (Lane, Impression 62-66). The first was a set of five views issued by Thomas H. Wentworth in Oswego, New York.
