Newly married, in April 1838 she journeyed with Lord Durham from Portsmouth to Quebec, spending seven months in the colony. She made a side trip to Washington, endured a terrifying siege at the hands of the supporters of Louis-Joseph Papineau and left for home at the end of November. Illustrated with watercolours by Jane herself.
