First edition. Circa 1879 map, lithograph, printed black with light blue frame around map and one section in map ; image 25-1/4 x 16-1/4 inches on sheet 27-1/4 x 17-7/16 inches.
Paper age toning, otherwise, very good condition. This was a double page spread map from an Atlas and printed on the back of this map in black only is a full page image of the Tecumseh House hotel in London Ontario. On the other back page is four illustrations printed, 3 in London and one in Stathroy.
Relief shown by hachures. A.G.E. Westmacott, Del. appears in bottom right margin.
Alexr. Craig Steam Lith., Toronto does not appear in bottom left corner. "Entered according to the Act of Parliament of Canada in the year 1876 by Jas. Cleland Hamilton, in the Office of the Minister of Agriculture". Includes township diagram, and reference legend. Shows route of the canadian Pacific Railway. Includes illustrations of ships, native locations, buffalo, etc.

The District of Keewatin was created by the passage of the Keewatin Act on April 12, 1876 in a central separate strip from the North-West Territories, in order to provide government for the growing area north of Manitoba and west of Ontario
