Black and white lithograph print. Item was in frame and when removed from the frame and matting the poor condition of the border was exposed. A uncommon print of a very famous British battle.
Poor condition, with some age browning but with proper matting and framing will still be appealing.
dated 1909 and printed by the Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic news. Coldstream Guards and the 20th East Devonshire regiment returning from Battle of Inkerman, 5th November 1854, during the Crimean War.
Lady Butler (1846 - 1933) was one of the few female British Military Art and History painters. She wrote about her military paintings in an autobiography published in 1922: "I never painted for the glory of war, but to portray its pathos and heroism".
