STOWE IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT WOMEN IN CANADIAN HISTORY
Rare document, signed 6-1/2 x 8 inches, death certificate by Dr. Emily Stowe from June 19, 1887. This is a physician's death certificate for the wife of James Aikenhead (they married in 1858) the founder of the well known Hardware store chain who died in 1903. There is also few mourning letters relating to Mrs. Aikenhead as an added bonus. Two folds with a couple of nick at two of the folds and small 1/2 inch tears starting at first fold, otherwise in very good+ condition and with a quality signature.
Dr. Emily Howard Stowe was born in Norwich Township, Oxford County, Ontario. She is very significant both for medical history as she was Canada's first woman medical practitioner, and she is one of Canada's most significant suffragist and women's rights movement leader.
