The Central Ontario Railway Company Township of Dungannon in the County of Hastings…five dollars…three and six one hundred’s acre…Part of Lot Number Fifteen in the Sixth Conssession of the said Township of Dungannon being the right-of-way of the Central Ontario Railway sixty six feet in the perpendicular as shown on plan survey by Ontario Land Survey Surveyor John D. Evans dated Fifth February Nineteen Hundred of record in the Department of Crown Lands or a copy of which plan is attached to and forms part of these Letters Patent. Saving excepting and reserving unto Us Our heirs and Successors all give to us standing or being on the said Lands. August 16, 1902

MOWAT, Sir Oliver [1820-1903] Lawyer, politician, judge, and office holder. Mowat was the third Premier of Ontario, the eighth Lieutenant Governor of Ontario and one of the Fathers of Confederation. In January 1837 he had become an articled clerk in the office of John A. Macdonald in Kingston, and he remained with Macdonald until November 1840. He was called to the bar in Toronto in November 1841.
Elihu James Davis (1851-1936) was an Ontario businessman and political figure. He represented York North in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as a Liberal member from 1888 to 1904.
He was born in York Township, Canada West in 1851, the son of Andrew Davis, and entered business with his father who owned a tannery in King Township. In 1874, he married Maggie Johnston. Davis served on the council for King Township and was reeve from 1883 to 1886. He also served as warden for York County in 1884. In the same year, his father retired and Davis took ownership of the business. He was first elected to the legislative assembly in 1888 after the resignation of Joseph Widdifield. Davis was Provincial Secretary and Registrar of Ontario from 1896 to 1899 and Commissioner of Crown Lands from 1899 to 1904.
James Robert Stratton (1857-1916) was an Ontario businessman and political figure. He represented Peterborough West in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1886 to 1904 and in the Canadian House of Commons from 1908 to 1911 as a Liberal member. He was born in Millbrook, Durham County, Canada West in 1857, the son of James Stratton, an Irish immigrant and later customs collector at Peterborough. He married E.J. Ormond in 1881. Stratton was publisher of the Peterborough Examiner and also sold books, stationery and wallpaper. He served as a member of the Board of Education in Peterborough. Stratton was Provincial Secretary and Registrar from 1899 to 1904. After being elected in 1908, he ran unsuccessfully for the same seat in the House of Commons in 1911.
