7-1/2 x 10 inch autograph manuscript signed, no place or date but 1829. Folds with minor tears and one small hole near signature but not affecting. Overall condition very good “…it is now the 23rd day of the ninth month 1829 the anniversary of my birth day, and being mercifully preserved to the age of ninety one years…my Heavenly Father, who hath graciously brought me through many trials and varied dispensations to the present time….”

New England abolitionist, industrialist. Brown funded the design and construction of the first factory houses for spinning machines during the American industrial revolution, Slater Mill. Brown became an active abolitionist, an advocate for African Americans both slave and free.

He, together with his brothers, founded Brown University.
