Flora Lyndsay; or Passages in an Eventful Life is an autobiographical account of a young British couple’s preparations for leaving England and their voyage to Canada.
Letters Susanna wrote about her immigration to Canada have not survived, she has left a vivid fictional recreation of her preparations and voyage to the Canadas in Flora Lyndsay. The trip took two months because their ship was becalmed for three weeks off Newfoundland.
One of three books (the last one) to deal with the Moodies’ Canadian experiences. Life in the Bush and Life in the Clearings being the other two. First UK edition published by Bentley in 1854, two volumes.
