Doctor Ox, and other stories. Translated from the French of Jules Verne by George M. Towle.
Dr. Ox's Experiment is a story by the French writer and pioneer of science-fiction, Jules Verne, published in 1872. It describes an experiment by one Dr. Ox and his assistant Gedeon Ygene. In the unusually stuffy Flemish town of Quiquendone, Dr. Ox begins to surreptitiously pump a gas through a network also connecting the gas lamps resulting in the townspeople becoming more lively and acting younger and younger.
